Holy-WeekBethany Memorial Baptist Church 2017

Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.  Those words show the strength and courage of Jesus.  The religious leaders were looking for ways to have Him killed.  Jesus told His disciples that He would be sentenced to die and handed over to the Romans.  He described the cruelty He would face.  But, out of His obedience to God, His Father, and because of His great love for us, He resolutely set out for Jerusalem and would not turn back.

“As the time approached for Him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.”  Luke 9:51

That is the Good News of Easter!  Jesus knew the cross was not the end of the story.  He was resolutely setting out for victory, not defeat!  The grave could not hold Him.  After spending time with many witnesses and followers after His resurrection, He was taken up to heaven!  We worship One who is alive today!  He knows our struggles and He knows our regrets.  The cross and the resurrection give forgiveness and freedom if we will receive it.  Jesus intercedes for us in every circumstance.  He walks beside us.  We are never alone.

Come and worship with us at these Easter Services. We will observe the celebration of Palm Sunday on April 9th, and the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday.  We will quietly stand in the shadow of the cross at a Tenebrae service on Good Friday.  And we will celebrate on Easter morning that Jesus is Alive and present with us today!  Come.  You are welcome here.
